"The Long Lost Care Bears"
From The Care Bears Family Album
Updated: Wed. Feb. 12, 2003

Welcome! This episode is the first I have ever done. I am doing it first in honer of my two favorite Care Bears, Perfect and Polite Panda. This is the only show that they ever appear in. (Too bad!) The actual show is 27 minutes long. Also, these pages are full of spoilers for the show. If you haven't seen it and want to be surprised, I would advise reading the telescript first and then reading the "Things To Watch For" and the synopsises. Some people might choose to simply read the long synopsis and that gives a good idea of the story as well. No dialog, but every major event is covered. The telescript was written to try to come as close to actually watching the show as possible. Enjoy!

Short Synopsis

While on a rescue mission, the Care Bears find two Long Lost Care Bears (Perfect and Polite Panda) and bring them back to Care-a-lot. After becoming part of the family, they discover that Care-a-lot isn't the place for them. They go home to their valley only to discover it covered in ice. Only the warmth of the Panda's love can melt the ice and keep their valley warm.

Detailed Synopsis

[Scene 1] Tenderheart, Swift Heart, Good Luck, Losta Heart, and Grumpy are cleaning the Hall of Hearts attic. They are getting work done, but playing around a lot, too. After Grumpy and Lotsa take a particularly bad (and funny) fall, they discover a photo album. They look at a few pictures of themselves as cubs before they discover two strange ones. They are pondering the fates of the two odd cubs when the Caring Meter chimes that they are needed.

[Scene 2] Swift Heart is driving, Tenderheart is searching from the Passenger seat, and Good Luck is searching from behind the driver. They are trying to find the valley through a blizzard storm. They know someone must need help, but they can't find anywhere that anyone could live. When the finally spot a valley, green and protected from the snow storm, they get knocked off course by the storm and crash. Before they can assess the damage to the cloud car, Good Luck sees a pair of what appear to be snow monsters and he warns the others. By the time Tenderheart and Swift Heart look back, they have hidden. Good Luck yells for them to come back, but his yelling causes an avalanche. Dispite Swift Heart's best attempts to create a sled that can "out slide" the avalanche, the Care Bears are caught and swept away by the avalanche. Good Luck comes to, only to see the two snow monsters coming for him and his fellows, but he is too weak to fight.

[Scene 3] They come around to find themselves in a tropical valley, untouched by the snow. They are pondering how such a place can exist when they are in the midle of a snowy mountain range, but they are interupted by the sounds of footsteps. As they turn around, they see two big snow monster lounging for them. They get tangled up in the furs and discover that the "snow monsters" are really two Pandas, Perfect and his sister Polite, who always talk in rhyme. Good luck is really attracted to Polite Panda and she is to him. They spend most of the rest of the show together.

[Scene 4] Perfect and Polite Panda give the Care Bears the tour of their valley via canoe. While showing them around, Perfect saves a little bird and shows that Perfect and Polite take care of the valley. However, as is discovered by their adamant refusal to have anything to do with the only humans in the whole valley due to being shy, they are lonely. The Pandas were the ones in trouble, not anyone in the valley. So, after some persuasion, Tenderheart agrees to have Perfect and Polite come back to Care-a-lot.

[Scene 5] Perfect Panda fixes the cloud car and the five of them head off to Care-a-lot. As they leave, the snow starts to come into the valley and sends two playing children back to their homes. The last thing we hear is the cries of confusion and panic from the villagers.

[Scene 6] Back at Care-a-lot, True Heart explains to the Care Bear family that Perfect and Polite are the same two cubs who were once frightened away from them by No Heart. Now they have returned and they are given tummy symbols, like the rest of the Care Bears. Perfect's symbol is a yellow star with three blue bands hanging down from the star and a golden band holding them together towards the bottom. Polite's tummy symbol is a pink rose with a green stem that is tied towards the bottom by a ribbon, which is supposed to by yellow or peach, I believe.

[Scene 7] Training starts with running. While running is easy for Tenderheart and Champ Bear, it is hard for the two valley Pandas and they can bearly "bear" it. Then pull-ups prove a challenge as they can't even jump high enough to reach the bars, let alone do a pull-up. Cloud car driving proves even less fruitfull. They have never driven before and they crash into every cloud within range and even crash into one twice! Poor Tenderheart, who had to ride with them! Next, they are to be taught how to use their Care Bear Stares. However, they loose control of them and hit Grumpy Bear, Lotsa Heart's sandwich, and Swift Heart Rabbit. (They miss Good Luck altogether.) The other Care Bears are not happy about becoming targets and they make sure that Perfect and Polite know it.

[Scene 8] Bedtime comes and Perfect and Polite are totally bushed! They collapse and sleep on the floor. Sometime in the night, they are awakened by a loud alarm, signaling that the Care Bears are needed. They try to go along, but they fall down the pole and bounce off a sleeping Bedtime. When they hit the ground, they fry Grumpy's cloud car out from under him, then the cloud that he landed on and he isn't happy. After dressing down the two, he hops in another cloud car. Perfect and Polite realize that they don't fit in and decide to return home to their valley. The next morning they tell the Care Bears that they must go back to their valley. However, before thay can leave for the valley, they get word that it is in big trouble!

[Scene 9] Tenderheart, Good Luck, Swift Heart, and Perfect and Polite return to valley in a cloud car. Thay land to find the valley covered in snow and ice and everything is dying. They are very sad, but they realize that they must get the humans out of the village. The humans, however, cannot survive the cold in their tropical outfits. Tenderheart gets another idea. If they combine their stares, they might be able to melt the ice. They try it, but the Pandas can't control their stares and they end up causing the first snow ledges to fall into the village. Losing hope, they watch as the snow leges start to fall and will eventually destroy the valley. The Pandas each start to shed tears for the loss of their home. As the tears fall onto their tummy symbols, the tummy symbols form pink glowing balls that combine and melt all of the snow! The Pandas are hearoes and have saved all of the villagers. The pandas realize that they belong with the villagers and that they never should have hid from them. They decide to share the valley together from then on. It is Tenderheart who finally realizes the Pandas' connection to the valley: their love keeps the valley warm, and the snow out. The Pandas must forever stay in the valley to protect it from the cold, and so Good Luck and Polite must part. It is sad, but they realize that they will see each other again someday.

Things To Watch For
In chronological order

  • When Tenderheart Bear, Good Luck Bear, and Swift Heart Rabbit crash the cloud car, look at Good Luck and Swift Heart as they pop out of the snow to the left of Tenderheart. The snow on Good Luck's head looks like he has bunny ears, and the snow on Swift Heart's head looks as if she is a bear (the snow on her head looks just like Tenderheart's when he came out of the snow).

  • Notice how, throughout the show, the color of the bow around Polite's rose on her tummy tummy symbol keeps changing colors. Sometimes it is: yellow, peach, pink, and even gold. What color is it supposed to be, anyone know? (Anyone have one of the actual UK plush, or a picture of one?)

  • During the training with the stares, notice how Perfect and Polite's stare blasts change colors. Polite's changes from blue to white and Perfect's changes from yellow to white.

  • When their stares are out of control, Perfect stamps his foot and if you look close enough you can tell that they cycled the animation. In a way, it looks like a dance. Eye Carumba! ^_^

  • The glowing effect for the tummy symbols (in the final scene where Perfect and Polite save the valley), is very similar to the glowing effect used for Christy near the end of Care Bears Movie 2 (when she gets hit by Dark Heart). The major difference is only color. Isn't that a good effect?

  • Notice how even Good Luck rhymed at the end. Cute! ^_^

I'm sure there are more and if I think of any, I will post them. If you have any that you would like to add, just EMAIL them to me and I will post them. (Also, if you want to tell me a name to give credit to and an email address and/or website, I will post it with it.) Thanks!
